With a Swedish mother and Danish father Chris influences has indeed been very Scandinavian, but traditional Japanese architechture and design also plays a big role in her work with focus on materiality and functionality. “A simple thing as how you treat the food in many Asian countries eating with chopsticks instead of brutally penetrating it with a knife and fork is for me very inspiring. Functionality is always a crucial part of my work, but the aesthetic respect for what the object is for is an interesting problem to work with”.
